Greetings from Padova!

3:33 CEST, 9:33 EST - Ciao tutti! I am currently in an internet caffe on a lovely street in Padova not far from my dorm. I have met a few other kids from California who are doing the same program with us... Chamille and David. They are both going to be living next to me and they both seem like good people. I'm really excited about this year it should be fun. Let's see 3:33 here so that means its 11:30 EST. no wait... its 9:30 at home. I'll figure it out soon enough. I am trying to speak italian as much as i can but it is still very tough for me. Oh well. Everything is closed right now because italians like to take their nap or do whatever it is that Italians do right now. I reallllly think I am going to fit in here. Well, fitting in might be a stretch but at least i'll like it here.
Tonight we are going to eat pizza and meet the rest of the California Crew and then probably go out... last night with the grad students showed us a strip of like 9 or 10 outside bars. It was raining a little bit but that didn't stop us from having fun. There is a river that runs right on the other side of the street from these bars too... its really cool. I am going to try and get a phone soon so that anyone who wants to call me can 0:-) Well, I'm thinking that a nap does sound pretty good right now. I haven't really gotten much sleep... though when I did sleep i slept very well. It was nice and cold and... wow that bed is calling my name so I am going to take off but I'm glad I finally got on and was able to post all this stuff! Talk to you soon!

Hey Stevo!!

Glad to hear that you made it there!!! Sounds like quite the travel experience. It is nice to know you have already picked up on the universal (global) way to get help -- keep traveling with friends!!!

Sounds like you are already meeting great people being from California and all (by the way San Diego is German for great beaches!!! or is it Spanish for St. James?).

When do you start up your language classes? Sounds like you have already begun your cultural and geography classes -- around the local pubs!!

Get some rest and we look forward to your future postings! Aunt Patty and the kids went to Lansing to see Aunt Betsy. I am still hoping for a full-time teaching gig but I may have to settle for subbing for a while -- and reading your postings:)

Best wishes,

Uncle Bruin

Wow! Everything sounds so exciting. It is really fun hearing about all the things you are doing. Keep these up and you will have an awesome journal when you get home. What is this about an evacuation at the London airport? Yes, please get a phone soon, I can't wait to talk to you. Oh and by the way when do classes start???
Miss you bunches!!
Love, Mom xxxxoooo
(PS Glad to hear I'm right some of the time!)

what up.

Looks like you're enjoying Italy as much as I am enjoying your room/car/extra clothes. I was thinking about you when we started our 6pm game on Monday (which resulted in an 8-1 victory. Our 4-0 team may be ready to take on the Azzurri...just kidding). Go watch a REAL football game and have a beer for me. Have fun.

hey-
don't worry-i've been watching law and order for you. don't know how you go one whole year without even thinking about lenny or jack. i'll have to find a way to get an episode of full house to you. remember my advice-take your pills-you never know how they use toilets in the it! il gabinetto could be translated to "hole in the ground."
have fun!

Steve-

You da man!! Glad to hear you made it, and that you're already out having fun. Make sure you work hard and play hard the whole year, and you'll get the most out of your experience. And hey, you should adopt the philosophy that I use when I'm on vacation-- sleep is optional. You'll have plenty of time for sleeping back in the boring old USA. This will enable you to fill me in on a 3am jaunt to the Italian equivalent of Travis Restaurant.

How do you say hamburger in Italian?????

Ciao,

Squi

Steve:
I figured I better keep you posted on whats going on with the tigs. Due to a rainout last night, the tigers had a doubleheader today vs the yanks. They lost a tough one in the afternoon, but stuck up a fight tonight! down 3-2 in the top of the 9th, with one out, inge walked. pudge struck out, making 2 outs. your boy, cg also walked after about 10 pitches, and monroe came to the plate. first pitch-over the centerfield wall! they won 5-3, and are now 5 ahead of the yanks, like 6 ahead of the w sox and 7 ahead of the twinkies. thats about it, next time i'll e-mail you the results, so all the people don't have to read my ramblings. ciao

Oh stephen, it was so good to hear from you today. I know you will have such a great year and you'll meet so many cool people. Maybe no one as cool as Dan the Man and Billy, but pretty sweet anyway. Have fun, and remember Danny's OTHER piece of advice ;)

Aunt Kathy here!
It has only taken me about an hour to type a few lines but... {That exclamation point is hard to find!}
We, in California are glad to hear you are doing well. California roommates may mean we'll see you out here for a visit some day! Take care. The pictures and info are fun to see and read! With love,
